EDAR · ESD FLOOR MAT MANUFACTURER SINCE 1998
Anti-Static Floor Mats for Electronics Manufacturing
Dual-layer ESD floor mats with anti-fatigue cushioning. 10⁶–10⁹ Ω surface resistance, RoHS 2.0 + SGS certified. Engineered for SMT lines, semiconductor fabs, and standing workstations.
EDAR Anti-Static Floor Mat Options
EDAR produces three types of anti-static floor mats for different applications:
2-Layer Anti-Fatigue ESD Mat
Thickness: 12.7mm / 17mm. Anti-fatigue cushioning + ESD protection in one mat. Best for long-standing workstations. Black with yellow edge.
3-Layer Premium ESD Anti-Fatigue Mat
Thickness: 17mm / 20mm. Three-layer construction for enhanced ergonomic support + full ESD protection. SMT line operator stations.
Custom ESD Floor Mat
Custom size, color, logo, thickness. OEM/ODM welcome. For specialized facilities or branded deployments.
Why Floor-Level ESD Protection Matters
Most ESD protection programs focus on workbench surfaces, but the floor is equally critical. As workers walk across an unprotected floor, friction between shoes and flooring generates static charges up to several thousand volts. When the worker then touches an ESD-sensitive component, that charge can discharge through the component, causing latent damage that doesn't show up until the product is in the field.
A properly grounded anti-static floor mat, combined with ESD-safe footwear, reduces body voltage generation to under 100V — well below the damage threshold for most components. This is why ANSI/ESD S20.20 requires floor-level ESD protection in any EPA (ESD Protected Area).
EDAR's anti-fatigue floor mats combine this critical ESD protection with ergonomic cushioning — reducing fatigue-related injuries in standing-workstation environments.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between anti-static floor mats and regular floor mats?
Anti-static floor mats have surface resistance between 10⁶ and 10⁹ Ω, allowing them to safely dissipate static charges from workers walking on them. Regular rubber or vinyl floor mats are insulators — they actually build up static charge as workers walk across them, which can damage sensitive electronics.
Where should anti-static floor mats be installed?
Anti-static floor mats are typically installed in: electronics assembly areas (SMT lines, PCB assembly, repair stations), semiconductor cleanrooms (Class 100–1000), test and inspection labs, areas where workers handle ESD-sensitive components while standing or walking, and ESD Protected Areas (EPAs) per ANSI/ESD S20.20.
How thick should an anti-static floor mat be?
For workstations where workers stand for long shifts (8+ hours), anti-fatigue floor mats of 12.7mm or 17mm thickness are recommended. For walkways or temporary workstations, thinner mats (2-3mm) are sufficient. EDAR offers 2-layer anti-fatigue mats (12.7mm/17mm) and 3-layer premium anti-fatigue mats (17mm/20mm).
Do anti-static floor mats require grounding?
Yes. Anti-static floor mats must be grounded to be effective. The mat connects to a grounding point (typically building ground or a designated EPA ground) via a grounding cord or copper foil strip. EDAR's anti-fatigue mats ship with grounding snap kits and include installation instructions.
